Google replaced AI Principles that explicitly barred weapons, harmful technologies and surveillance violating international norms with a broader framework that omitted those categorical prohibitions.

Why it moved the index

The new official framework omitted the prior categorical commitments against weapons and abusive surveillance, weakening a major developer's self-governance boundary and broadening room for military and security deployment. Google's archived prior principles preserve the removed language.
